Steckling family awards CCSD21 $21,000 through grant program

November 11, 2021

Topic: Board of Education

Donna Steckling served the CCSD21 community for 25 years, first as a library assistant at London Middle School and as a secretary in the Curriculum department at the Administration Center. When she passed away in 2020, her family established the Donna Rae Steckling Memorial Educators Grant to carry on Donna’s love of learning and compassion for helping new teachers.

The grant’s mission is to foster learning and invigorate the classrooms of a new generation of educators. The grant provides support to Community Consolidated School District 21 educators, in the first three years of their career, as they create a warm, welcoming and stimulating learning environment.

Donna’s children, Bill, Lynda, and Janet (who all attended CCSD21) presented CCSD21 with a check for $21,000 at the November 11, 2021, Board of Education meeting. A total of $3,000 per year for 7 years will be awarded to grant applicants.
