Dear Poe Community,
With school in session   I would like to remind you of our warm weather plans.

Students are encouraged to keep a water bottle at their desk and drink water throughout the day on warm weather days. The classes that meet on our second floor rotate downstairs to “cooling centers” several times during the course of the day.  Our students are learning in the library, the computer lab, the teacher’s lounge (all air conditioned areas) and also in classrooms on the first floor whenever possible. We are also monitoring our students with regard to hydration, and their comfort level, and are making accommodations wherever needed.

When weather allows, the windows upstairs will remain open and univents will remain on overnight. If temperatures drop overnight, the cooler air will be able to circulate throughout the building. Doors to rooms on the first floor will also be left open to increase circulation.

Our staff is making every effort to maintain a learning environment that is as comfortable as possible for our students.  We are fortunate to have such a committed group of educators working with our students.

Please know the final decision for students attending school on warm days is yours.  If a parent chooses to keep a student home due to the weather, please let us know and it will be counted as an excused absence.

As always, please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.  We appreciate your support.
