All schools within Community Consolidated School District 21 will be closed for in-person learning on Tuesday, Jan. 16. Schools instead will shift to an e-learning day.
A message from Dr. Michael Connolly, superintendent of schools:
“We have been closely monitoring the dangerously cold conditions over the last several days. Based on the most recent data and weather forecasting from the National Weather Service, all CCSD21 schools will be closed to in person learning and will engage in an e-learning day tomorrow, Tuesday, January 16, 2024. An E-learning day is a full day of learning consisting of both synchronous and asynchronous learning activities. Your child(s) teachers will communicate specific details on tomorrow’s learning activity.
The entire area is under a wind chill warning until noon tomorrow, and predicted sustained wind chills of greater than -30 during the hours of 5 AM and 9AM Tuesday are forecast. These conditions meet our district’s criteria for closure of in-person learning.
All park district before and after school care programs are closed tomorrow, as well.
Again, all CCSD21 schools are closed to in-person learning and will engage in an E-learning day tomorrow, Tuesday, January 16, 2024.
Please stay safe and warm during this severe weather and we look forward to welcoming students back to school on Wednesday, Jan. 17.”
