During its meeting on Dec. 12, the Community Consolidated School District 21 Board of Education formally approved the calendar for the 2025-2026 academic year.
Among the highlights:
For the 2025-2026 academic year, District 21 will begin classes one week earlier than in the previous year. This adjustment reflects the district’s progress in completing key construction projects, which no longer require the extended summer timeline.
“By starting earlier, we aim to optimize instructional time, align with our surrounding school calendars, and maintain a seamless schedule for students, families and staff,” said Dr. Michael Connolly, superintendent of CCSD21. “The updated start date allows us to continue providing high-quality educational experiences while ensuring our facilities remain safe, modern and conducive to learning.”
The district is also planning to line up its start dates with Township High School District 214 for the 2026-2027 academic year.
